Recipe adapted from America's Test Kitchen, because they know what they are talking about! MAKES 3 BURGERS - for 4, use 1.5 pounds of beef. Want a HUGE Juicy Lucy? Make 2 from one pound of beef.
Ooozing cheese, juicy onions and a BUN! Sounds like a great recipe for a burger, but throw the cheese INSIDE the burger, and you have a recipe for gloriousness! Juicy Lucys are apparently a Minnesota thing. Juicy Lucys are legendary in this town and everyone has a favorite: 508, Matt's or the Nook. Juicy Lucys have even been featured on Food Wars, Man vs. Food, Food Network and in many national magazines!
Fun fact: My now-husband took me to a dive bar on our first date and we both had Juicy Lucys - though mine was bunless :) Apparently he was testing how high-maintenance I was - ha! somehow I fooled him! I am so happy there are now great gluten-free hamburger buns so I can enjoy my gluten-free juicy lucy in style!
